Gay dating in Mumbai after change of law

Last summer, the Indian High Court decriminalised homosexuality. For me, and my friends, this was the first step towards acceptance for gay, lesbian and transgender persons across India. An incredible day for millions of gays. So, has anything changed since?

Gay dating in India still is a high risk activity because mentalities have not changed as fast as the law. In practice, gays still avoid being seen in public spaces – I have never seen men holding hands or kissing in public.

Gay dating online is still very much the name of the game, with dating websites such as Gaydia.com, Gaydar and others where gays meet and chat. Gay clubs and bars underground also draw large crowds, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. However, I can only talk from my own experience of gay dating in Mumbai! If you would like to share your own experience, please leave a comment below.

Oh, I was about to forget an important point. The decriminalization of homosexuality has made it harder for the police to blackmail gays arrested in public spaces. Blackmailing still happens, but is less frequent from what my gay friends tell me.

Now all we need is more time for minds to change!

Gay sex experience on NYE

Dear friends, it’s almost become a tradition that I have sex on New Years Eve!

It’s happened every time in the past 3 years, and I was hoping that thuis year would be no different.

The problem is that my friends and I got stuck in a traffic jam between Pune and Mumbai late in the afternoon. The traffic slowed down, and almost came to a standstill because of a road accident. This was threatening to ruin our New Years Eve plans, and my tradition!

So I started talking to my friends about their girlfriends and women in general to make them hotter. They didn’t know I was gay, and was quite sure they had never had homosex before. Somehow, we started talking about gay dating in Mumbai because this was in the news recently. My friend noticed I had become excited and my cheeks were all red. I said “Let’s open the windows, it’s getting hot in here’. So my friend said “Sure, I’ll open the window” and touched my lund as he leant over me. At first, I thought it was a mistake, but when he pressed twice I knew he was serious!

Sadly, we did not go further because our 3rd friend was sitting in the back of the car, but I promise that we will explore more very soon!

Argh, lost my phone!

Dear friends, today I lost my phone in the toilet. It fell down the loo as I was about to flush! I managed to get it out in time, but not quick enough to keep alive. I tried to turn it back on, but the screen faded away on me. And now I’ve lost all my contacts – including my gay dates. Please send me your number again here, or through my Gaydia profile! xxx

New gay chat on Gaydia.com

My friends, Gaydia.com has just relaunched its service with a fresh design and clever gay chat tool.

New private messages open up in a Gaydia Messenger chat window that sits at the bottom of my screen. It’s clever because I don’t need to install any software to get started – I chatted with guys online at the office this afternoon, and all worked without a glitch.

This gay dating website looks cleaner too – the ugly blue background is out, replaced with classic white. The site logo has also been touched up with warmer colours. Thumbs up to my friends at Gaydia for all their hard work!

They’ve just made it easier for me to chat with my gay buddies 🙂

Gay dating sites

Moving to Mumbai was a liberation. I had grown up in a small village outside of Pune, where the subject of homosexuality was taboo and gay relationships were unspoken.

I moved into a small studio by myself near the Central Station, determined to experience the city to the full. I soon set about searching for Mr Right, in bars, saunas and online! Internet dating soon become a large part of my life. I would login to my profile on Gaydia.com in the evenings after work, and on weekends. There, I chatted with other gay guys in Mumbai and even made new friends in Delhi and Chennai. It was great to chat with others experiencing the same feelings as me. I did meet up with a few in real life too, for fun and friendship!

I did try other gay dating websites too, such as Gayromeo and OhMojo, but never really became a regular with them. If you ask me which is the best website for gay dating in India, then Gaydia.com is my favourite. It’s free to chat online, plus you can also check your messages on your mobile phone, at http://mobile.gaydia.com/. When I get bored at work, I’ll sign in to Gaydia from my cell phone and see who’s online. There’s always someone online, which makes it easy to arrange after-work drinks and dates for maasty and more!
